The Admiral's Wind Ensemble

Wednesday 1.30 - 3.30

This popular new group provides an opportunity for wind players who may not have kept up their playing, but still own a flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone or bassoon and would enjoy learning more and playing with others. You need not have played in a group recently or at all, but Grade 2+ or 3+ ability would be advisable, and a basic knowledge of sight-reading would be helpful. The group currently has 6 flutes, 3 clarinets and a tenor saxophone. We are particularly keen to expand a little more with an oboe, another clarinet, and a bassoon.
As we continue into our third year we will be exploring more styles of music – jazz and blues, popular baroque and classical pieces, music from stage, cinema and television. You will be expected to practice during the week, but fun and good humour is guaranteed.
What you used to love about playing wind music as a youngster can be rediscovered in the AWE – come and try us out!
