Adventures in Artland

This course aims to explore ideas within art using a variety of materials. We will look at other artists’ work as both a prompt and a medium through which we can experiment with our own ideas. The course is most suitable for improvers. We sometimes use a model in this class, on these occasions (notified in advance), there will be a small extra charge to meet the model’s fee.

Creative Sketchbooking

Further develop your drawing and painting skills, along with input on design and layout of the sketchbook. This term the theme is ‘Improvisations’, using varied media and mark-making to explore colour and composition, and optional tasks to help develop your personal interests. You may bring your own images or objects to work with.

Life Drawing

This course is suitable for newcomers and more experienced artists. It aims to introduce drawing from the model as a path to developing both fundamental drawing skills and exploring self-expression through line, gesture and tone.  Students will need to bring paper, drawing boards and drawing materials including charcoal and putty rubbers.

Creative Textiles

This course will explore a range of textile techniques including feltmaking, appliqué, dyeing and printmaking. You will be guided through a series of practical sessions and will have the opportunity to develop your own ideas and projects. There will be some stitching involved, but the emphasis is on experimenting with a range of textile materials. Suitable for beginners and those wanting to explore textiles further. There will be a small charge for materials and you will be advised at the first session of the basic equipment needed.
