Room Hire & Catering
There are a number of rooms available for hire when not in use for the Institute’s own purposes. In addition, our in-house team can provide catering tailored to any requirement.
Our rooms have been used for all manner of functions including meetings, training events, wakes, wedding receptions, retirement and anniversary parties.
Margaret Tempest Room
Ground floor room. Can be laid out with seating for 60, or used as open space.
Dimensions 10 x 6 metres.
The Orwell Room
Upstairs room, suitable for meetings or training seminars. Capacity 16 at tables,
24 in rows.
Dimensions 5.3 x 6 metres.
The Reading Room
Ground floor Victorian hall which can be set for talks or presentations.
Available, along with adjacent Pages Café, only for evening events. Can accommodate audiences of 60-70 people.
The Birkbeck Room
Upstairs lecture room, with capacity to seat an audience of 60.
Dimensions 6.3 x 10.5 metres.
Hearing Loop fitted.
The Fitzgerald Room
Ground floor room with capacity to seat an audience of 20.
Dimensions 5.8 x 5.5 metres.
The Corder Room
Ground floor meeting or discussion room.
Seats 12 – 16 people (with or without tables)
Dimensions 4.3 x 4.2 metres.
The Chart Room
Ground floor, accessible room suitable for catered events, talks and presentations. With a mix of casual and formal seating for up to 30 people.

Facilities & Equipment
All Ground Floor Rooms have level access, suitable for wheelchairs, plus access to disabled WC.
Presentation equipment available includes whiteboard/flipcharts, OHP, digital projector, screens.
